Dear Industry Colleague

Welcome to the first issue of our materials testing newsletter, designed to keep you up to date with the latest news and product details from Lloyd Instruments.

Lloyd Instruments launches new materials testing website
We have just launched a new global website: www.lloyd-instruments.co.uk that features information on the full range of our materials testing equipment, Davenport polymer testing instruments and texture analysers. We wanted our website to be as user friendly as possible so that our customers can find the information they need quickly and easily. In addition to extensive product information, the site offers a resource centre with technical information, specifications, customisation services, as well as links to typical testing in different market and application sectors, explanations of different tests types and links to Chinese, French and German language websites.

Safety first in HDT/VICAT testing
Testing of plastic material for HDT (Heat Distortion Temperature) and VICAT measurements (a measure of the temperature at which plastic starts to soften rapidly) can now be carried out more safely in the Davenport HDT/VICATPlus instrument. A host of features have been introduced in this latest version to further enhance the safety of operators.

Keep your results secure with NEXYGEN material test software
Powerful security and data audit tracking features have been included in our NEXYGEN MT control and data analysis software. Designed for manufacturers wanting to safeguard data integrity, these features are also an invaluable tool for those who need to meet the requirements of FDA 21 CFR Part 11. Supervisors can select appropriate operator access levels, who must login at all times, and safeguard the unauthorised use of passwords. NEXYGEN software also records full details of all operator logins and logouts, and when each test is created, changed, deleted or aborted. Audit trails are time stamped to provide an accurate history of data.

Compression cages extend materials testing capabilities
Testing large samples as diverse as complete car seats, mattresses, large cardboard boxes, complete drums and large diameter pipes requires a special approach. We can supply compression cages to a height and width to match your exact specification for most of our universal testing machines to allow a full range of compression tests to be carried out. Let us know the dimensions of your sample and we can provide a solution!

Marine industry benefits from research and tensile testing
Cable terminations are one of the principal interfaces on the rigging between a yacht or ship and the mast. They are also used in a variety of architectural products, including the "London Eye". A four year research project between Petersen Stainless Steel Rigging Ltd, UK and the Engineering Department at the University of Hull, UK is under way to investigate many aspects of wire/rod network design and specification, with "pull-to-break" tensile testing using an EZ50 50 kN materials testing machine from Lloyd Instruments playing an important role. This study has already produced reliable scientific data on the design and properties of stainless steel rigging components.
